Who Are We ?
Project Philippines is a team of approximately 15 workers, both Filipino and American, men and women. It is a 3-fold project designed to reach the lost and bring glory to God in the Republic of the Philippines, a nation of nearly 90 million people in the continent of Asia. The Philippines is an island nation of about 7,100 islands (only about a hundred inhabited).
The first phase of Project Philippines is Leyte Christian College.
LCC was born in the summer of 2007, in a meeting of our team at Tacloban City, Leyte. This great "gateway" city in the Philippines, sitting astride the great San Juanico Bridge which connects Leyte island with Samar island, is a vast, growing commercial city in the heart of the Philippines. It is the capital of the province of Leyte. You may remember Leyte from the events of the Second World War. Here, General Douglas MacArthur fulfilled his pledge ("I shall return") to the Filipinos on Oct. 20, 1944, with the Allied invasion of the Philippines culminating in the rout of the Japanese Army. Our work will be centered in this great city.
We have secured a nice property there on which we might build all phases of Project Philippines:
(1) Leyte Christian College, a preacher training school
(2) a pre-school, elementary school and high school
(3) a children's home for homeless or orphaned children.
We're looking for sponsors and supporters who might share our vision for the Lord's kingdom in the Philippines and lend a hand. We know it's a bold and ambitious plan. It will require lots of hard work. It also will require brothers & sisters in Christ standing behind it, in prayer but also in financial assistance. If that's you, contact us at eastepfamily@yahoo.com. Or write our sponsor congregation at this address:

Successful Medical Mission at LCC
Over the course of two days, Sept. 4 and 5, 2012, a free medical clinic was conducted here in the main building of Leyte Christian College, led by Dr. Karen Chase, a longtime supporter of Project Philippines. We were so blessed! Dr. Karen, accompanied by recent nursing school graduate Michelle Bennett, saw almost 140 patients over the course of these two days and gave free medical examinations, including blood test and urine test, and free advice and assistance, including some medicines and vitamins. Most of our students participated, along with most of the staff of Leyte Christian College and Small Beginnings Preschool, and their families. In addition, more than 50 people from the village near LCC came and took advantage of the free medical checkups. There were 28 cases of dehydration diagnosed by Dr. Karen (which is quite common for a tropical climate). Also, there were ten cases of anemia, nine cases of UTI (urinary tract infection), and one case of severe diabetes. The person with the severe diabetes was actually unaware of his condition, so this medical mission may have saved a life! Also, vision was checked on every patient and several of our students need glasses, including one of our third-year boys who appears to be legally blind! One elderly man from the village had extremely high blood pressure and was advised to get further treatment. The oldest person to get checked up was 78 years old, while the youngest was a five-week-old baby girl. All-in-all, we feel it was a very successful and blessed medical mission. Thanks & kudoes go to Dr. Karen Chase, Nurse Michelle Bennett, and all of our great supporters. Special thanks to the Mabank church for the contribution for valuable and much-needed medicines. What a blessing to be able to help so many spiritually as well as physically & medically as well. We believe God was glorified by this medical mission. Several of our students reached out to all the visitors and showed concern for their souls as well. What a great bunch of students we have!
