It hit hard in the northern Philippines, very far from us. At least three people have been killed so far by Super Typhoon Megi in the Philippines. We appreciate your concern; some have written to ask how we are doing but we were not in any way affected.
Super typhoons are essentially Pacific hurricanes, with winds sometimes reaching 175 miles per hour. Thankfully this one hit very far from us. We have experienced no bad weather recently. It hasn't even rained in several days, though we are in the middle of the "rainy season" here when it typically rains everyday. Also, Tacloban City is somewhat sheltered by the huge island of Samar to the east which protects us from the open Pacific. And we (the LCC campus) are even further up the shore and in the San Juanico Strait, which provides further shelter. God willing, the super typhoons will stay away from us. Again, thank you for your concern.
