Who Are We ?

Project Philippines is a team of approximately 15 workers, both Filipino and American, men and women. It is a 3-fold project designed to reach the lost and bring glory to God in the Republic of the Philippines, a nation of nearly 90 million people in the continent of Asia. The Philippines is an island nation of about 7,100 islands (only about a hundred inhabited).

The first phase of Project Philippines is Leyte Christian College.

LCC was born in the summer of 2007, in a meeting of our team at Tacloban City, Leyte. This great "gateway" city in the Philippines, sitting astride the great San Juanico Bridge which connects Leyte island with Samar island, is a vast, growing commercial city in the heart of the Philippines. It is the capital of the province of Leyte. You may remember Leyte from the events of the Second World War. Here, General Douglas MacArthur fulfilled his pledge ("I shall return") to the Filipinos on Oct. 20, 1944, with the Allied invasion of the Philippines culminating in the rout of the Japanese Army. Our work will be centered in this great city.

We have secured a nice property there on which we might build all phases of Project Philippines:

(1) Leyte Christian College, a preacher training school
(2) a pre-school, elementary school and high school
(3) a children's home for homeless or orphaned children.

We're looking for sponsors and supporters who might share our vision for the Lord's kingdom in the Philippines and lend a hand. We know it's a bold and ambitious plan. It will require lots of hard work. It also will require brothers & sisters in Christ standing behind it, in prayer but also in financial assistance. If that's you, contact us at eastepfamily@yahoo.com. Or write our sponsor congregation at this address:

The Latest

Summer is nearing its end here in the Philippines, which means students will soon be preparing themselves to start the new school year (usually early to mid-June here).  Leyte Christian College is no different.  Enrollment will begin on June 14, with the first classes to be held Tuesday, June 18.  There is a lot of excitement!  We will have a great crop of new students, with at least one high school valedictorian in the ranks, and possibly two.  There are also two students with Bible degrees from another Christian college here in the Philippines - a two-year school - who wish to join us and obtain their bachelor's degree from LCC.  We also will have several new teachers, including Maricris Patindol, one of our recent grads, who finished with the highest grade average and was one of two students to graduate cum laude ("with honors").  Another recent grad, Jerusalem Bacante, was hired as the campus minister to better serve our student body and their spiritual needs especially, and he will be teaching one freshman class.  Elmer Palacio, a veteran preacher in the Philippines and a fine brother, will also be coming aboard part-time to teach two classes.  He will have other duties here in Tacloban which we will be sharing more about that later.  So three new teachers, added to our other new teachers who have been here for one semester - the Mook family: Jesse & Amanda - who have been such tremendous blessings to this work.  So that is the latest with Leyte Christian College.  Other news is that the electrical work on the building has been completely finished.  We're hoping to be able to rent a transformer from the local electric company very soon, and tap into that.  More news is that the Eastep family have moved to a newer house and much better house.  Some American friends who built this wonderful place are going back to the U.S. to live, and graciously rented us this great place (and at less rent than we were paying before).  God is so good to us!  Brothers & sisters, thank you all for your great support and your vital prayers, without which this work would never be able to succeed.  We are blessed because of you!
