Wishing a wonderful, cheerful and memorable Holidays for all of our great supporters! Thank you all so much for all that you do for this work!
Lots of news to report here.
The big news is beginning January 1, 2011, we will have a new sponsor. This new sponsor is Southwest Church of Christ, in Amarillo Texas. We are pleased that they have actively sought to become the sponsor, even though we were happy with our previous sponsor - the church in Hereford, Texas. Southwest is amply and ably equipped with a dedicated and active missions committee and their commitment to missions is quite obvious. All agree that this is a great fit, and we look forward to their partnership in the role of sponsor. Southwest has supported Project Philippines from the very beginning. If you would like to help fund our work, please send your donations to Southwest Church of Christ, 4515 Cornell, Amarillo TX, 79109. Be sure to mark your check as "for Project Philippines."
More news: Although we're in the midst of the heavy rainy season in this tropical environment, the work goes on. Our two new congregations, planted by your team members of Project Philippines, are both growing and thriving. These two new congregations meet in (1) Tagpuro at the Leyte Christian College campus, consisting mostly of LCC students & teachers & staff but also we've had three recent baptisms; and (2) at Sante Fe town, where LCC students & teachers led a door-knocking campaign last year. Charlie Sabado has been doing most of the preaching at Sante Fe, while yours truly preaches a lot at the congregation at LCC. Some of us have started referring to this new congregation as 'Seaside Church of Christ' after the name of the road which goes past our LCC property.
Speaking of Charlie, he recently got a good report on his health after another trip to Manila and Makati Medical Center, maybe the best hospital in the nation. The reports on his heart were all good, and the heart seems to be back to normal. The doctor believes all the trouble was a result of his sudden onset diabetes. Charlie also has a problem with his thyroid gland (some swelling) but the tests & blood work were negative, leading the doctor to suspect this swelling is also a result of the diabetes. The doctor said the swelling wasn't large enough to warrant a biopsy at this point, and they will seek to control it with medication. One problem detected in the blood work, however, is there may be some early kidney trouble. The doctor suspects perhaps the diabetes is the culprit here too. Charlie was given the "green light" to resume exercising since his heart appears normal at this point. Great reports! We want to thank all those who contributed funds for Charlie's medical needs, and also your prayers. Please keep those prayers coming.
Our construction at the new LCC classroom building has been ongoing to the point where the only major part lacking is the east wing of the building. The west wing is 99 percent finished, the gym flooring is about finished, the basement rooms are nearly complete. We only lack getting the east wing up. Estimates are that we are 80 percent complete with the entire building. The bad news, however, is that we will be stopping the construction at the Christmas break due to lack of available funds. We are confident, however, that the Lord will again supply what is lacking and that sometime after the start of the new year we will be able to resume working on the building again. Thanks to all who have contributed funds toward this need. Please see the pictures on this site to get a glimpse of how far along we've come. Already, some few classes have met in the rooms in the west wing and we also have our library up and in the process of being assembled. Of course, the students are already using it!
Currently we have 51 students at Leyte Christian College studying in the Bible degree program. We are richly blessed by some very high quality students. How I wish you could meet these fine young people. What a blessing to be here and being able to be a part of this school and daily teaching these dedicated young people. Thank you, dear supporters, for giving us this opportunity. Please pray for us, and if there is any way you could help us complete our new classroom building, we'd love to hear from you.

Who Are We ?
Project Philippines is a team of approximately 15 workers, both Filipino and American, men and women. It is a 3-fold project designed to reach the lost and bring glory to God in the Republic of the Philippines, a nation of nearly 90 million people in the continent of Asia. The Philippines is an island nation of about 7,100 islands (only about a hundred inhabited).
The first phase of Project Philippines is Leyte Christian College.
LCC was born in the summer of 2007, in a meeting of our team at Tacloban City, Leyte. This great "gateway" city in the Philippines, sitting astride the great San Juanico Bridge which connects Leyte island with Samar island, is a vast, growing commercial city in the heart of the Philippines. It is the capital of the province of Leyte. You may remember Leyte from the events of the Second World War. Here, General Douglas MacArthur fulfilled his pledge ("I shall return") to the Filipinos on Oct. 20, 1944, with the Allied invasion of the Philippines culminating in the rout of the Japanese Army. Our work will be centered in this great city.
We have secured a nice property there on which we might build all phases of Project Philippines:
(1) Leyte Christian College, a preacher training school
(2) a pre-school, elementary school and high school
(3) a children's home for homeless or orphaned children.
We're looking for sponsors and supporters who might share our vision for the Lord's kingdom in the Philippines and lend a hand. We know it's a bold and ambitious plan. It will require lots of hard work. It also will require brothers & sisters in Christ standing behind it, in prayer but also in financial assistance. If that's you, contact us at eastepfamily@yahoo.com. Or write our sponsor congregation at this address:
